Jardin des Tuileries

The Tuileries Garden (Jardin des Tuileries) is the largest and oldest French garden in Paris located between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde.  Home to the Galerie Nationale de Jeu de Paume and Musée de l'Orangerie, the garden is the only open-air museum with statues of Maillol, Rodin and Giacometti.  The Tuileries Garden also hosts events such as "Rendez-vous aux jardins" and international contemporary art fairs (FIAC).

Did you know ?

The Tuileries Garden owes its name to the workshops where tiles were made on the site where Catherine de Médicis commissioned the construction of the Tuileries Palace in 1564.
It was André Le Nôtre, the king's famous gardener and architect of the park and gardens of Versailles, who was commissioned to improve the garden from 1664.
